5 selfie secrets with Pearl — no retouching needed

The era of three retouching apps is over. One Pearl look and five techniques finish selfies at capture.

1. Find the light

80% of a selfie is light. No look can save a selfie shot under fluorescent lamps. Go to the window — Pearl performs when light hits your face evenly.

Outside, the edge of shade and sun is prime real estate. Soft light wraps the face while the background stays alive.

2. Distance over angle

Distance matters more than chin angle. A fully extended arm distorts the face. Bend the elbow slightly and keep the face from filling the frame.

A selfie stick or tripod locks in distance, which relaxes expressions too.

3. Turn on skin protection

Pearl's skin-tone protection keeps color while tidying texture — the made-up-but-not look everyone wants now.

Start intensity at 70%. Less is more natural.

4. Tidy the background

Messy backgrounds kill selfies. Put a wall behind you, or sit where the cafe's menu board shows.

If the background is chaotic, don't blur it — just move.

5. Shoot plenty, pick immediately

Pros don't take one shot either. Shoot twenty with varying expressions, and pick on the spot.

In Recipo, Pearl shots save automatically — no retouching app needed later. Shoot, pick, done.
